PASCO, Wash. -- New parking restrictions are coming to the streets around McLoughlin Middle School with the goal of making it safer for kids.

No parking will be allowed on the west side of Road 88 during school hours. Only people who live there will be allowed to park on Road 88 when school is out. Parking near crosswalks is off-limits, too.

The goal is to reduce the number of cars blocking traffic and improve safety for students.

Rick Leaumont picks up his middle-schooler every day.

"I fully support restrictions," he said. "It's going to be a little inconvenient, but if it keeps the kids safe, that's what's important."

The north side of Livingston Road will also be off-limits to parking and designated a bus loading zone only.
