PENDLETON, Ore -- A killer got a life sentence for the death of a 19-year old in Pendleton. Lukah Chang pleaded guilty to murder and assault.

Amyjane Brandhagen, 19, was found dead in the motel she had just started working at back in August 2012. She'd been stabbed.

Police had no suspects until Chang beat a Pendleton jogger with a pipe in August 2013.

Karen Lange, 58, barely survived her injuries. DNA on the pipe linked her assault to the previous year's murder.

Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus, says Chang will be almost 60 before he can even apply for parole.

He said, "The defendant will serve a life sentence with a minimum of 35 years in prison and only after that 35 years may he apply. the defendant wanted to face the music and hold himself accountable."

Chang will begin serving his sentence immediately.
