KENNEWICK, Wash. - A teacher at St. Joseph's has come up with a new way to keep her students focused during the day.

She outfitted her second grade desks with resistance bands. Zanna Grandinetti says they work well if kids get fidgety or restless, keeping them busy while holding their attention.

It was only the first day of class for the Kennewick school, but she says she can tell they are helping.

"We need that movement to be able to succeed, to find ways to add that in throughout our day, no matter if it's putting a band on a desk or being able to put in activities through the day, it's a better way to learn," she said.

The resistance bands are just the kind you'd find at a sporting goods store.
