PROSSER, Wash. - Crews are also working to get a handle on a brush fire burning along Gibbon Road near Prosser. They expect to be out there all night, Tuesday.

It started on a local farm just off I-82 Tuesday afternoon. The fire already blew up to 700 acres as the wind whipped flames up the hill.

Crews are digging trenches to get the fire under control.

The land owner and farmer says he's been worried a fire would break out soon.

Ben Phelps said, "I was telling the guy that lives on the farm here last night, I said man I got a bad feeling about this. It's just too hot and been too long and the feed's been good. I said It'll be the year it burns and here we go."

The fire is close to government land.

Officials tell KEPR that if it comes close to that area, water-carrying aircraft could be deployed.
