KENNEWICK, Wash. - A family safely escaped a burning home in Kennewick Wednesday afternoon.

It took just minutes to put out the flames that burned half of the house on West 34th Avenue near Conway.

Firefighters used hand saws to cut parts of the roof, trying to get at the hot spots.

Neighbors say they thought the bushes outside the home were on fire. They quickly realized it was actually the house.

Mallory Jones lives across the street. She said, "I just immediately ran over and luckily my next door neighbor was already on the phone with 911. my mom left the house 2 minutes before me and didn't even notice anything, so it must have happened fast."

Multiple crews from across the Tri-Cities helped knock the fire down.
