YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Officials say a man somehow drove his car into the Yakima River near the Donald-Wapato Bridge Sunday.

Many different agencies responded, and it resulted in a successful water rescue.

People at the scene said someone else was with him and got out successfully, but then might have taken off.

Action News caught up with the man who saw the car and called 911. When he called, that man was knocked out.

Action News asked, "How does it feel knowing you that might have saved a life today?"

"I'm kind of feeling kind of, I don't know, just weird right now," Art Gonzales said. "I'm just glad he's okay."

Officials say more information will be available Monday.

The man was transported to a local hospital for trauma care.
