RICHLAND, Wash. -- Christ the King hosted a STEAM program Thursday night. It's the traditional STEM education with the addition of arts and it gave kids the chance to show off.

Each classroom had its own theme with a learning experience attached. Parents were escorted by their kids ready to show off their talents. The students worked for months to create their displays, and teachers say it pays off.

"The parents are like, "My kid did that,'” said teacher Marie Yanochko, adding this type of hands-on learning is better than simply reading a book where “it goes in and it goes out."

Teachers say they are always surprised at the level of enthusiasm the kids express. Parents say they are excited about what this type of learning brings to the table.
