Accused murderer enters plea
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The teenager accused of killing of a young Walla Walla college student was formally charged Monday.

Carlos Valdez entered a plea of not guilty.

The 17-year-old will be tried as an adult for the murder of Yesica Olivos.

He was arrested last week after a standoff at a Spokane motel. Valdez is known to have gang ties.

Friends of the victim are being charged with helping Valdez escape.
